THE GAME MECHANICS OF FINAL FANTASY X

MECHANICS:Role playing
Final Fantasy X is one of the popular series of Final Fantasy, genre as an RPG (Role-playing game).Role playing itself is a game mechanic, whereby the game proceed depending on how well the fictional character (in this case:Tidus) was manipulated.

Tidus will not be the only character you will be controlling, inbetween cutscenes or movies, you might get a change of the character you're controlling from point to point as the story proceed. However it final fantasy, the story plot does not shows much flexibility in the options you took while in-game, other than the few possible ending you could get at the end of the game.

MECHANICS:Resource Management(Inventory)
In every Role-playing game, Items, equipments and in-game currencies plays an important role.Items such as potions are supplements that will aid you in your quests or battles. Equipments are necessary for giving a boost in def. or atk. to let you keep up with the monsters' abilities in the game, and in final fantasy X, the in-game currencies are labelled as GILs, which are used to get potions, weapons or upgrades from the merchants. Inventory is exceptionally important in final fantasy X due to the categories "KEY ITEMS", these are items that you have to pick in game and without these key item, you would be stuck in the game unable to proceed on .

MECHANICS:Resource Management(Status)
A role-playing game nevertheless will have their own leveling system and Resource Management, in Final Fantasy X its called Sphere Grid.
Every playing character for you to level them up will have this screen in game. as you leveled them up you would be granted S.LVL (as shown on the Screenshot above), with the S.LVL you could expand out your grid, by filling in the following spheres with your S.LVL points. The spheres are skills that consist of status boost such as +HP +ATK permanently or skill/magic atk which can be wielded during battle.

MECHANICS:Randomiser
After getting to know about the capability of wielding skills on the battle field, it's now time to know about what kind of monster you will encounter during the game-play. Other than the designated boss monster, other common monsters will appear randomly as you explore around the world, the kind of monster and amount of monster that will appear is beyond prediction. This game does not only use Randomiser on the appearing rate of the monsters, certain skills also required randomiser rate to be cast.

MECHANICS:Turns

After encountering monsters on the field its time to engage them on the battlefield. This will bring the screen into a battle arena whereby all the possible attacking characters and hostile enemy are standing against each other getting ready for combat. In their combat mode, final fantasy X uses a special turn based system, known as the CTB (Conditional Turn-Based Battle system), which is a turn-based format that pauses the battle during each of the player's turns. Thus, the CTB design allows the player to select an action without time pressure. A graphical timeline along the upper-right side of the screen details who will be receiving turns next, and how various actions taken will affect the subsequent order of turns.

MECHANICS:Catch-Ups
It's definitely a mission impossible for you to engage in boss battles if your level and skill are far apart from the boss' status, due to the fact that final fantasy X is a turn-based game, unlike action games' battle you could perform dodging of attack or swift movements. Therefore if you are quite far apart compared to the boss you are going to face, before the boss battle, you would find yourself a possibly good training spot for catching up to a possibly higher level for your advantage, hence allowing more percentage of winning the boss battle.

MECHANICS:Loss avoidance
In Final Fantasy X some boss battle feature a losing condition such as certain bosses if you does not managed to prevent some charging strong attack, you and your party would be swiped off within the next few things. Hence to prevent these incident from happening, it would be wise to set up trap that cause aliment status, using skills and manipulate with the CTB (Conditional Turn-Based Battle system), or clear them off as soon as possible within the next few turns.
